Forty seven years ago G and I passed through Quebec City on our second honeymoon. Our first one was in Winnepeg at the end of October in a snow storm so we took a second one the following summer. We camped across half of Canada and down through New England that summer of 1968. When we got to Quebec City we pitched our blue Sears tent in a $2 campsite along the St Lawrence River. The campground was located at the bottom of a steep cliff. Up above us we could see a magnificent castle. We were told it was an expensive hotel, not a castle. We vowed to save our money, come back someday and stay at the Frontenac. We checked in at noon today and spent the rest of the day in luxury! We thought we'd be able to look down on the campground--but it's gone.
Le Chateau Frontenac:
I love this story! Too bad the campground isn't there anymore: you could have inspired the next generation of honeymooners.
